About Ian

Ian is enjoying retirement between Ireland, Cyprus and the United States of America. He has written his 

first book "Private Eye, Secret Spy" on the many exceptional and interesting cases he has worked on 

during his almost 60 years as a prominent international investigator and intelligence provider.

He handled high profile, politically sensitive cases in the 1960s and 1970s and successfully managed 

assignments for major corporate clients and various foreign governments across the globe. 

From 1987 to 2010 he was the CEO of Priority Investigations Group.

In 1979 he was retained by the Government of the Republic of Seychelles to advise and set up a 

commercially based intelligence service, becoming National Security Advisor to the then President France 

Albert Rene. He provided high value intelligence to the Seychelles authorities and prevented planned 

mercenary incursions to overthrow the Seychelles government. 

Ian featured as a spokesman for the Seychelles government on a US documentary TV 

programme "60 minutes" a one-hour special called "Spies Islands". Ian is also a founding member of 

the ‘World Association of Professional Investigators’ (WAPI). He has served on the governing 

council from 2001 to 2014 and completed five terms as chairman. 

He had a license for over 10 years as a PI in Maryland, USA where he is a retired Member of ‘National 

Association of Legal Investigators’ (NALI), ‘National Council of Investigation & Security Services’ 

(NCISS) and ‘National Association of Professional Process Servers’ (NAPPS). He was the Regional 

Director, Region VIII (International) Membership Section for the National Association of Legal 

Investigators and assistant editor for international news with PI magazine.  

Ian also holds City & Guilds NVQ Level 4 - Investigations and National Qualification 

Certificate (B-Tech IQ) Level 3 award in Professional Investigations.

He represented WAPI on the (UK) Investigator Sector Group UK-ISG) and represented both the UK 

and Irish PI sectors in negotiations with governments on the regulation of the private investigation sector.
